It be best to wait until after

It may seem a strange title for a blog, but I hope that all will make sense as this little blog unfolds.

My friend Karen came up to London with me to visit a surgeon for breast augmentation, this is going via the private path as next week I will know if I will get this on the NHS via my PCT.

My letters of referral have gone through, but due to my cancer etc etc the whole process has disappeared into a black hole somewhere and there is a big “silence” pending a decision on this.

I have visited my GP and he is supporting me and will write another letter and I am also at the GIC next week, if however I don’t get a straight answer then I am going to go ahead as a private patient, I am just not prepared to be at the service of the NHS and get second rate treatment anymore.

I saw the future and it was big and nice.

My friend Karen came with me today, 2 good reasons, (1) being she has had breast reconstruction surgery once so has some experience with the procedure and (2) I trust her opinion for how I would look with different size implants on and what size suits me best.

The doctor was very good, I did explain to him about my gender history, it is relevant in this type of operation, as I have gone through a male puberty, I have a wider rib cage area then a genetic born woman and a wider chest area, meaning there is more area for my developing breast tissue to spread, and although ultra bras give me a good cleavage, when it comes of, I still don’t see a female bust.

Well when I tried on the 2 sizes recommended by the doctor, I went for the bigger size and loved it, it changed my whole body shape so much, narrower shoulders, different body shape overall, I tried on a t-shirt they have, and also had a couple of tops to try on and also my dress I had worn for the day, well some dresses I have will have to be altered!

Karen gave her honest opinion that it looked really good and I did not want to take the implants of.

Mr S explained the procedure, he would not perform a under muscle procedure as I had a fair amount of breast tissue, but use an over muscle type and also how this would be better for my overall body type.

Karen also liked his manner, it was professional, but also friendly and he said about the NHS attitude to transwomen getting boob ops privately, he said you know what you are doing and by looking at you, it will not be a mistake. Doctors who do these procedures privately do get some negative feedback, not just for a woman like me, but for all types of women, the mums who’s boobs have sagged due to breast feeding, the women with one boob smaller than the other and for a whole different host of reasons, all through history we have not liked our bodies, now we have the technology to correct it and also it comes at a reasonable cost.

What we agreed was I pay a £500 deposit and booked an operation date for 10th November, it will be a day procedure and Karen is going to come with me to take me home, this saves the £500 overnight bed stay and brings the price in line with other places I looked at.

To be honest after what I saw today I am not waiting to January!

If however the NHS will do it, they will refund my deposit to me (with a letter to prove this).

I have a appointment to see a nurse on 21st October for a pre op blood test, blood pressure etc and by then will know and if I get the NHS run around I will go ahead with the November 10th date and I am so excited!

At the moment I don’t know a bra size as it is size of implants, then they settle down a bit after 4-6 weeks, my breast size bigger than my sisters and is also realistic to my body size and shape. I am going into the C/D cup range.

After we were shopping with me on cloud 9 and I was looking at some fitted dresses, and Karen said “It be best to wait until after your new boobs as everything will change”!

SRS Update.

Dr Suporn has agreed to take me on for surgery and my date has been booked for 26th January, this means I will leave England on 22nd January, I need to be in Thailand 2 full days for pre op tests, but I will leave a extra day early to take into consideration time zones, possible delays and change over’s.

Dr Suporn has asked for a letter from my GP and I went to see him this week and he did ask how much it was going to cost me and why I would pay for a operation that I will shortly get for free on the NHS, I was honest and explained that in my opinion Dr suporn will give me what I want and that as a woman with a healthy sexual appetite I want a working vagina not a hole in my body!

He will see me next week so I can review what he has written before emailing it to Dr Suporn, it was a new experience for him to hear this side of the procedure of transition.

He took an interest when I explain about how one procedure means no genital hair inside my vagina after surgery, how I will get a sensitive clitoral hood, a hit and miss with the NHS.

He wanted to write to Mr Thomas to express his concerns, he is a nice doctor but I explained my concerns that if he does this the NHS will dump me at the back of the waiting list, they tend to get annoyed if you dare to take control of your body into your own hands.

I still want to get my tracheal shave on the NHS if possible!

I am looking to save for other surgeries, cheek implants being one.

So with my Surgeries coming I can keep that promise to visit the nudist beach in France.

I will go on my own if needs be.

January 26 is only 3 1/2 months away! My goodness Lucy, you are almost there! The time is going to fly right on by. You'll be there before you know it!

I have heard that Dr. Suporn's technique is superior. Can you enlighten us on what is the main difference between Suporn's method, and the standard penile inversion that western doctors use?

This is all great news, Lucy! I'm so happy for you!

hi Melissa
Thank you and I know I hope the time will fly by!

On site http://www.supornclinic.com/Welcome.html he has papers on the technique

The main difference is how he uses the nerve tissue to ensure sensation and he also ensures no genital hair inside the vagina as the area is "scrapped" it comes down to how the current material is used.

It was funny when I explain to suporn clinic surgery that although I qualified for free surgery on the NHS i wanted to see Dr Suporn, she said the british have a saying "the best things in life are free" however to SRS this does not apply!

Do you know western doctors will not learn from his techniques

Great news on all fronts, Lucy! I'm very interested in the whole process of breast augmentation, since I'm now feeling more like I want it myself. Thanks for your insights!

I was in Montreal last January. Thailand sounds a lot nicer and warmer. :)

@Veronica
No problems hun, I always feel it helps to share experiences.
I will be doing some before and after photos (clothed!) with the same tops to show difference.
When I visit the nurse she is also doing a before and after topless photo, I dont want to turn my blog page into a porn page!

@Caroline, I know, you could say it make different hoilday photo evenings!
