Sister’s reunion

It’s been quite an interesting 3 weeks, from emergency hospital emissions, to a reunion with my sister (we had not spoken for over 3 years.)
Like me my sister (Jeanette also had a big health scare, and 2 months ago she had a hysterectomy.
Cancer runs through our family, my mum bless her soul eventually passed away 3 years ago after a 40 battle with cancer of the stomach to every other body part.

When I was in hospital I had lots of time to think and also into perspective a lot of life issues, like:

  • · Money means nothing when your health is threatened. (I have had a major rethink about work and how I feel about where I am employed).
    · Thought if I do have full cancer what I would want to do to help people left behind.
    · I am a Pagan and I have a different view about life and the afterlife, what I wanted was to rebuild my relationship with my sister and her daughters, my lovely nieces.
    · I also had just bought a digital camera and I want to record everything I do with the rest of my life, not just for memories to look back upon, but also for people to look at and say wow she really enjoyed her life, for me as a pagan a life is to be celebrated and not mourned, I do understand and respect other people right to mourn, I think you can make it a whole lot easier for people left behind.

  • Also my friend Jenny was coming up that weekend; it was also the Southend Air show which is always on the Sunday and Bank holiday Monday.
So a good weekend was planned.
I was not nervous about seeing my sister again; I had a feeling it was going to go well.
She and her boyfriend (Mark) arrived in Westcliff on Sea at 5:30 and checked into their motel, and me and Jenny was picking them up at 7pm, to come back to my flat for wine and for Jeanette to give my cat smudge lots of hug s (I think everyone only comes to see smudge as he is so lovely.
After we had first hugged lots, we could not stop talking and sharing good and painful memories, but overall we talked and remade our sister bond.

She also brought some wonderful Clinique powder and foundation.

As we were driving down, Jenny had asked me why had we not spoken in so long, and I could not really answer it, but me and my sister discovered our dad had played us off against each other.
I still think Jeanette can do better with her boyfriend, going out with a man for FOUR years and he still does not share a life or home with her! He is a nice enough guy, but puts her down a lot and undermines her low confidence and self esteem.
As her big sister I put him right lots of times!
What was really nice was how Jeanette was not about accepting I am trans, it just never come up as a issue, and she said to (me as a compliment ) that no one would ever know unless I told them.
It felt nice to share things and have a family back.
We also showed that us Persechino girls know how to drink, lots of wine and bicardi going down until 4am, mark dropped of at the motel room at 12.
Also Jenny helped me shop for a laptop on Friday, so next time I am in hospital I can still co me online.
I am going to visit her in two weeks t time and also see my 2 nieces again.

Delighted to hear how wonderfully that all went!

The things families can do to each other and put each other through are horrific sometimes; I'm glad you and your sister figured out what was going on!

Thank you for being a bright light in a sometimes dark world!
